recently available the English version of Revit Architecture 2011 which, for our office at least, is very welcome. We've been using Revit 2011 in English without problems on the same workstations provided and, as before, too, have begun using a new version of Revit first in English then reinstall the version in our language without any difficulty. But now, when installing the English version, all PCs have yielded error messages like the following:
One consequence of this error is that some key elements disappear from the menu:
- The icon on the toolbar shortcut , and there is no way to record the central file or undo commands. Icons
- tools such as tracing lines, etc.
is not a software error attributable to Revit but Microsoft. Specifically, the cause of the problem is in the form Microsoft.NET Framework and Microsoft specifically . Net Framework 3.5 SP1 you install Revit 2011 on our PC that for some reason, now is corrupt.
Solution:
Unfortunately the only solution recommended by Autodesk and finally we have followed with success is:
Step 1:
In Windows, using Control Panel> Add / Remove Programs , remove only the following modules:
- Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Language Pack
- Microsoft. NET Framework 3.5 SP1 - enu
Step 2: Uninstall
Revit Architecture 2011 doing a clean uninstall following the instructions recommended by Autodesk in the following link:
Step 3: Return to
Revit Architecture 2011 install. The installation program will replace the form of Microsoft. NET Framework we remove in step 1.
Comments:
Yes, I know, is terrible to think uninstall and reinstall Revit. It is a full working day is lost but the method works well. Of course, you should do step 1 and step 2 immediately before changing the English version to version in English. Apparently the conflict. NET Framework is produced with existing PC users who were also users of Revit. We had the case of a user who is logged for the first time in one of the teams that entered the English-language version of Revit was installed without submit the error message and all the menu icons enabled and functional. For that reason we believe it is important in step 2 to find and delete user folders ( Documents and settings / local Configuracón / Application Data and Application Data are hidden system folders) attributed to Revit 2011 as instructions recommended by Autodesk.
