MBA-102 Subject: Tile or structural cover on "metal deck with 3D representation

In response to a query from Mr. Antonio Acosta.

Revit Architecture 2011 features a function that was previously reserved for Revit Structure: modeling roof tiles or on a corrugated steel plate so that their ribs actually exist 3D.

The procedure for attaining this is as follows:

1. First, load the model exterior profile that Revit platform can be used to give the shape of the slab. In the folder Metric Library / Profiles / Structural families can be molded parametric profiles platforms that can adapt to the characteristics of the panels in the industry.

2. Create a family of slab (floor or ceiling, as required) between the layers containing a metal panel. For this, in the dialog box type Properties> Edit add the necessary layers and a special metal floor panel.

3. Select function structural platform [1] to the panel assigned to the metal layer.

4. In the same dialog box, select the type of profile to be used in the platform and will use. The latter defines whether the upper layer material (eg concrete) penetrate between the ribs of the panel or if continued will (as in the case of a thermal insulation mat.)

For the sections of the model showing the orientation of the ribs of panel correctly, you must define the orientation at the time of drawing the sketch of the floor or ceiling, using the "Light Direction " and selecting from the edge of the sketch lines parallel to the veins.
